Classes have a new location

Dragon Art is teaming up with the Florence, Oregon's art community to start classes back up. After closing the store on Highway 101 we took a brief break from teaching art, to participate in local theater and take classes ourselves. With Our Town ending this weekend-DON'T MISS IT and Once upon a mattress happening April 10-12th, We are ready to restart our classes. Look for the new calendar later today. In the mean time, if you have an opinion about which classes or events you want to participate in, let us know. We have been practicing and taking classes ourselves, to get ready for you.

Our teachers:

Karylynn Keppol is a Junior at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland and is a certified Henna Artist. She is an illustration major, but specializes in creatures and paper art. Her work can often be seen in local shows at the Florence Event Center, and on local windows. You can view her face book page: Creations and Illustrations by Kary Keppol.

Lyndsey Keppol is a Junior at Siuslaw High School, She often teaches crafts and sewing to our youngest students. She wants to be a Disney Princess when she grows up, and looks like Rapunzel. The Fairy and Henna camps are her favorites.

Kassy Keppol is a teacher in Florence, an Oregon Writing Project Teacher Consultant, and a certified Henna Artist. She has recently gone back to school in the summers to get a second Masters in Writing and Illustrating Children's books. After this summer, she will have a certification in children's book illustration from Hollins University in Virginia. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and is currently participating in the 12 by 12 challenge. Growing up in a very crafty family, she dabbles in all kinds of arts and crafts. Lately, she is fascinated by dolls and doll houses but, anything with glitter will catch her eye. Check out dragonartco on facebook to see what she has been up to.

As most of you know, Dragon Art recently lost it's building. It was too small for what we wanted to do there anyway, so no worries. Because, I am currently working on a second masters in children's book writing and illustration in the summer (which is our stores busiest time) we are holding off on renting or buying a new building. We will restart clubs and classes soon, but we will hold then in different locations for awhile. We will also continue to take mehndi , face painting, and henna appointments in Florence. In addition when Karylynn is in town she will continue to take window painting appointments. Dragon Art is currently homeless but not gone. Several stores have offered to carry products and we are still creating. Thank you for your patience in this transition . Also, for current postings please check out our postings on Facebook at dragonartco. I share ideas there on a regular bases.

Session# 3-Painting 2-4pm for five days. Co teachers Kassy and Karylynn Keppol did not want to be held back in this class, you will be doing all kinds of painting projects from tole painted pieces to acrylics and watercolor. We will be mimicking our favorite artists and showing off some of our favorite tricks.

Session #4 Extreme Birdhouse Building 4:30-6- Karylynn threw this title at Kassy as a joke and then we started thinking about it. It is way too much fun!  We can make birdhouses of every shape and kind. From driftwood, peanut butter, tole painted wood, gourds,to recycled objects this will be an amazing class. March is the perfect time to think about feeding the birds. Fill your back yard, porch, or window with your homemade creations.Since we started talking about it our only problem is going to be limiting it to five days!
